Grant will fund technology that creates connection
The Oconee County Senior Center recently received a Senior Center Innovation Grant in the amount of $2,000 from the Thanks Mom & Dad Fund.
The grant will help the Senior Center to create an interactive program in which participants can create and take part in their own webcasts and news and information segments and which will promote programs and activities through social media and provide virtual programming for senior adults who may be socially isolated.
“The Thanks Mom and Dad Fund grant award is a fantastic opportunity to provide broad innovative programming experiences for local older adults in our community,” said Senior Center Director Merry Howard. “We are committed to bringing innovative and interesting programs and activities to older adults, which is crucial to the growth and popularity of any senior center. Participants will be able to work with local college and high school students to film and share their life stories through videography projects, create interviews or video marketing tools to promote programs and activities at the center, connect with like-minded groups for virtual games, or explore fantastic places they never dreamed of seeing. We look forward to putting this award into action!”
