Oconee County BOC May 5 Meeting Highlights

The Oconee County Board of Commissioners held its regular meeting on Tuesday, May 5, 2020. The following actions were taken at the meeting:

  • Announcements:
    • Oconee County Government currently plans to allow limited public access to Courthouse and Annex functions by Thursday, May 14. This process will be phased in and is subject to change based on conditions, including emerging data and medical recommendations.
    • Residents may continue to conduct most county business by phone, website, and email
    • All public hearings for zoning matters will be postponed until after June 12, when Governor Kemp’s Emergency Order is set to expire
  • Ratified Local Emergency Order No. 3 regarding sales of alcohol to be consistent with state law during Governor’s State of Emergency
  • Appointed Deborah Caffery and Angie Eades to Animal Services Board
  • Appointed Ryan McNeill to Keep Oconee County Beautiful Commission
  • Appointed Carol Nimmons to Family & Children Services Board
  • Appointed Dean Bright, Sarah Cumuze, and Candice Meeler to Tourism & Visitors Bureau
  • Approved Joint Use Agreement with Oconee County Board of Education
  • Approved further negotiations with contractors for Animal Services renovation project
