Traffic Advisory: Water Street Closure Behind Oconee County Courthouse

Construction will begin on the Oconee Courthouse expansion project on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at which time a fence will be installed around the construction area as indicated by the red line in the image above. As shown in the image, a portion of Water Street will be closed behind the Courthouse; however, both access points for the Courthouse parking lot will remain open during this time. Closure of Water Street is expected to last for up to one month.

Following this initial stage of construction, the fenced area will be moved off of Water Street and will only encompass the area under direct construction. The section of Water Street behind the Courthouse will be re-opened at this time. Construction is expected to continue through late December 2019.

Please use caution when driving, walking, or parking near the construction area. We thank you for your patience as we work to expand the Oconee Courthouse and increase its security in order to meet the court system’s current and future needs. This project is funded from proceeds of the 2004 SPLOST.
