September 12 BOC Meeting Highlights

BOC Chamber with Dias and Chairs

The Oconee County Board of Commissioners held its regular meeting on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. The following actions were taken by the board:

  • Presented a proclamation recognizing the Week of September 18 - September 24, 2023, as Diaper Need Awareness Week in Oconee County 
  • Approved with five conditions Rezone #P23-0138 from B-1 to B-2 for 2.05 acres located at 2000 Atlanta Hwy; Vacant Property
  • Approved with five conditions Rezone #P23-0139 from R-1 (Bogart) and AG (Oconee County) to IND (Bogart) and OBP (Oconee County) for 29.44 acres located at 1291 Aiken Rd & University Pkwy; Residential, agriculture
  • Approved with one condition Variance #P23-0140 for a hardship variance from subdivision street standards UDC Sections 1008.04(a), 1008.05(h(1)), and 1008.06(a, c, & d); 121.75 acres; Mcree's Gin Road; Vacant 
  • Approved  Variance #P23-0147 to reduce minimum building setback on 1.01 acres located at 2312 Maddison Ave; Residential 
  • Appointed Ray Kopaniasz, Jason Hewell, Joe Avolio, Leslie Hunsinger, and Robin Stevens to the Oconee County Recreation Advisory Board 
  • Appointed Suzie Harvey to the Keep Oconee County Beautiful Commission 
  • Appointed Jim Jenkins and Courtney Elder to the Oconee County Planning Commission 
  • Approved budget amendment to allow hotel sales tax capital funds to be used for Welcome Center improvements 
  • Approved the Agreement for Court Collection Services between i3 Verticals and Oconee County Probate Court 
  • Approved the 2023 resurfacing contract modification 
  • Approved the Administrative Building GDOT Right-of-Way Dedication 
  • Approved the abandonment of Hillsboro Road - North High Shoals 
  • Approved the Memorandum of Understanding with the Tourism and Visitors Bureau for use of the William Daniel House as a Welcome Center
