The Oconee County Parks & Recreation Department has successfully renewed its Better Sports for Kids Quality Program Provider designation for 2023-2024. This designation is awarded by the National Alliance for Youth Sports to programs that have demonstrated their commitment to providing a safe, high-quality youth sports environment.
The Parks & Recreation Department earned this designation after undergoing a review process and meeting key requirements in the following five categories: written policies and procedures, volunteer screening, coach training, parent education, and accountability.
“Receiving the Better Sports for Kids Quality Program Provider designation lets the community know our team is working diligently to ensure our youth have a positive sports experience,” said Parks & Recreation Director Lisa Davol. “As the designation indicates, we follow nationally recognized standards and policies in the coordination of our youth sports programs, to include volunteer screenings, coach training, and parent education. We are proud to be recognized for our commitment in making quality a youth sports priority.”
