September 13 BOC Meeting Highlights

The Oconee County Board of Commissioners held its regular meeting on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. 

The following actions were taken at the meeting:

  • Announcements
    • TSPLOST information and community survey is available at; the TSPLOST will be on the ballot for the November 8, 2022 Election 
  • Approved Property Maintenance Code 
  • Approved Resolution for the Reduction of the Ad Valorem Millage Rate Upon Passage of a One Percent TSPLOST
  • Denied Variance #P22-0119 for ±3.5 acres located at 1047 Summit Grove Drive to reduce the required 25-foot of spacing between large trees and to allow planted materials less than 4 feet from the public right-of-way
  • Approved with conditions Special Use #P22-0132 for ±74.53 acres located on Monroe Highway to allow for expanded athletic fields
  • Approved with one condition Variance #P22-0159 for ±0.66 acres located at 1091 Park Drive, to increase the maximum allowable parking spaces from 14 to 28 
  • Approved with one condition Variance #P22-0164 ±0.66 acres located at 1091 Park Drive to reduce the required 50-foot incompatible land use buffer to 5 feet
  • Deferred to October 4 BOC Meeting Rezone #P22-0061 for ±42.76 acres located at Hog Mountain Road and US Highway 78 from B-1 (General Business District) to B- 1 (General Business District) and B-2 (Highway Business District)
  • Deferred to October 4 BOC Meeting Variance #P22-0127 for ±42.76 acres located at Hog Mountain Road and US Highway 78 to increase the allowable parking spaces from 47 to 84
  • Appointed Giles Moore, Richard Ashmore, Dan Moore, Wesley Scott, and Craig Moses to  the Oconee County Recreation Advisory Committee 
  • Appointed Micaela Hobbs for the Keep Oconee Beautiful Commission 
  • Appointed Nick Hobbs and Jeff Burks to the Oconee County Planning Commission 
  • Approved the County Administrator Contract and Defined Benefit Change 
  • Approved Calls Creek Plant Upgrade to 3 MGD Phase II GMP 
  • Approved the Agreement for Court Collection Services between i3 Verticals and Oconee County Probate Court 
  • Approved the GDOT Title VI Non-Discrimination Agreement 
  • Approved the Water Resources On Demand Services Contract 
  • Approved Updating Existing Water Lease to an Additional 1.5 MGD with Barrow County 
  • Approved the GDOT Agreements for Roundabout Lighting Assistance for SR 53 and Snows Mill/Rocky Branch Road and SR 53 and Rays Church/Malcom Bridge Road 
  • Approved the Automatic Aid Agreements for Additional Fire Protection in Southern Oconee County 
  • Approved the Budget Amendment for Body Worn Cameras for the Jail 
  • Approved the Acceptance of Westland Deed of Conservation Easement
