The Oconee County Board of Commissioners held its regular meeting on Tuesday, May 3, 2022. The following actions were taken at the meeting:

- Early voting is taking place through May 20
- Proclamation presentation recognizing May as “Keep America Beautiful Month” in Oconee County
- Proclamation presentation recognizing May 11-17, 2022, as “Law Enforcement Appreciation Week” in Oconee County
- Approved with one condition Rezone P22-0030 for ±4.62 acres located 1211 and 1191 Dove Creek Road from AG (Agricultural District) to AR (Agricultural Residential District)
- Approved with conditions Rezone P22-0035 for ±202.66 acres located at Georgia Club Drive; from R-3 MPD (Multi-Family Residential- Master Planned Development) to R-3 MPD with modifications to rezone no. 6730
- Approved with conditions Special Use P22-0033 for ±2.60 acres located at 1971 and 1975 Hog Mountain Road for self-storage units
- Approved with conditions Variance #P22-0034 for ±2.6 acres located at 1975 Hog Mountain Road to reduce the required 50-foot incompatible land use buffer to 25 feet
- Approved with conditions Variance #P22-0042 for ±0.48 acres located at 1091 Old Farm Road to reduce the side yard setback for an accessory building greater than 144 square feet
- Approved with one condition Variance #P22-0065 for ±1.02 acres located at 3531 Maddison Avenue to reduce the rear and side yard setback for an accessory building greater than 144 square feet
- Presentation of FY23 Budget Proposal
- Discussed plans to improve the intersection of Cole Springs Road and State Route 53 in coordination with GDOT to identify potential short-term and long-term solutions with the goals of re-opening the section of Cole Springs Road and providing a safer intersection
- Approved Resolution to Name a Designated Officer to Request Sales Tax Information from the Georgia Department of Revenue
- Approved the Parks & Recreation FY23 Concession Services Contracts with Oconee Futbol Club and Oconee County Little League
- Approved awarding the guaranteed maximum price for construction of the Administrative Building
- Approved the Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) Agreement
- Approved the Railroad Agreement for SR 15 Waterline Upgrade Project
- Approved the SFY 2022 Expanding Access to COVID-19 Vaccines via the Aging Network (VAC5) ontract with the Northeast Georgia Regional Commission
- Approved RFP #22-03-011 for Renovations of the Frank Norris Building
- Approved purchase of a new engine for Fire Station 7 in Bogart
- Approved the bid award and budget amendment for bridge repair
- Approved the Calls Creek Plant Upgrade to 3 MGD Phase 1
- Approved the alcohol license request for The Chop House; 2055 Oconee Connector; Athens with Nick Joiner as the Registered Agent
