September 7 BOC Meeting Highlights

The Oconee County Board of Commissioners held its regular meeting on Tuesday, September 7, 2021. The following actions were taken at the meeting:

  • Announcements: 
    • The next Town Hall Meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 14, at 6 p.m. at the Oconee County Civic Center and will feature information about the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option
      Sales Tax 
    • A Constitution Day celebration will be held on Friday, September 17, at 3:45 p.m. on Rocket Field
  • Approved with conditions Special Use #P21-­0076 for ±62.32 acres located at US Highway 78 for a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) 
  • Approved with conditions Rezone #P21­-0077 for ±62.32 acres located at US Highway 78 from B­2 (Highway Business District) and R­3 (Multi-­Family Residential District) to R­3 (Multi­-Family Residential District)
  • Approved with conditions Rezone #P21-­0078 for ±27.47 acres located at 1011 Pete Dickens Road from B­2 (Highway Business District) to B­2 (Highway Business District) with amended conditions
  • Approved with conditions Special Use #P21-­0127 for ±22.23 acres located at 1271 Old Watson Road for a special use modification to conditional use permit #2892 to create one additional lot
  • Approved with conditions Special Exception Variance #P21-­0153 for ±1.5 acres located at 7575 Macon Highway zoned B­1 (General Business District) to waive the requirement for a 50-foot landscape buffer
  • Appointed Mike Floyd and Christopher Herring to the Planning Commission for two four­-year terms to begin October 1, 2021, and expire September 30, 2025 
  • Appointed Leslie Hunsinger, Kimberly J. Thomas, Amanda McCoy Ledford, Jason Hewell, and Melissa Hopkinson to the Recreation Advisory Committee for five two-year terms to begin October 1, 2021 and expire September 30, 2023
  • Appointed Sidney Bell to the Board of Tax Assessors for the unexpired term to begin immediately as of September 7, 2021, and expire March 31, 2025 
  • Approved FY22 Budget Amendment Request to carry over FY21 Project Funding 
  • Approved pre­-construction services for Calls Creek WWTP Upgrade to 3.0 MGD 
  • Approved the implementation of a Purchase Card Program 
  • Approved the accepting of bids for the Disposal of Real Property 
  • Approved the acceptance of the Right of Way Deed from Summerfield Construction, LLC to Oconee County for Summerfield Subdivision, dated August 17, 2021
