June 1 BOC Meeting Highlights

The Oconee County Board of Commissioners held its regular meeting on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. The following actions were taken at the meeting:

•          Announced the next Quarterly Town Hall Meeting will be held June 16 at 6 p.m. at the Oconee County Civic Center

•          Announced three public hearings regarding setting of the millage rate that will be held on July 6, July 27, and August 3

•          Approved resolution providing for the levy and collection of annual ad valorem tax to provide funds for the Oconee County School District General Obligation Bonds, Series 2021

•          Approved with one condition Special Use No. P21-0053 for 5.53 acres located at 1561 Osborne Road zoned AG (Agricultural District) for the purpose of having a septic tank cleaning service

•          Approved with conditions Rezone No. P21-0054 for 8.38 acres located on the north side of Moreland Heights Drive from OBP (Office Business Park District) to OIP (Office Institutional Professional District) to allow for an assisted living facility and general office

•          Denied Special Use No. P21-0056 for 2.94 acres located at 1973 and 1975 Hog Mountain Road zoned B-2 to allow for commercial development with modular sales

•          Denied Special Exception Variance P21-0057: for 2.37 acres located at 1975 Hog Mountain Road to waive the requirement for a 50-foot incompatible land use buffer

•          Approved Special Exception Variance P21-0071 for 0.63 acres located at 1060 Derby Lane to reduce the rear setback for an accessory building greater than 144 square feet

•          Approved Street Light Tax District for Stonewood Subdivision Phase II

•          Appointed Kelsey Fox, Heather Macbeth, and Marsha Mitchell to the Animal Services Board 

•          Appointed Joseph Nunnally to the Family & Children Services Board

•          Appointed Suzannah Heimel, Elizabeth Hutcheson, and Lisa Pappas to the Keep Oconee County Beautiful Commission 

•          Appointed Amber Deutsch, Deesha Hagwood, Stephanie VanDyck, and Casey Deming to the Tourism and Visitors Bureau 

•          Held the second Public Hearing for and approved the Fiscal Year 2022 Budget

•          Awarded design services contract for the new Administrative Building to Hill Foley Rossi & Associates

•          Approved the Memorandum of Agreement with the City of Watkinsville for the Oconee County Library

•          Adopted a Resolution for the Naming of an Open Records Officer with County Clerk Holly Stephenson as the Open Records Officer and Administrative Assistant/Deputy Clerk Tracye Bailey as the Alternate Open Records Officer

•          Approved contract amendments for the Eagle Tavern Project in the amount of $27,669.00 (Perimeter Wood Support Beam-$15,905.00; Steel Plate-$6,957.00; Wooden Siding-$4,807.00) with funding through the 2015 SPLOST for historical structures

•          Approved Award of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Construction Contract for the Senior Center Expansion Project to Bayne Development Group, LLC, in the amount of $763,737.00 with a contingency of five percent (5%) or $38,186.00
