April 6 BOC Meeting Highlights

Oconee County News

The Oconee County Board of Commissioners held its regular meeting on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. The following actions were taken at the meeting:

  • Announced National Library Week, which takes place April 4-10, and the Oconee County mass vaccination event, which will take place Saturday, April 17
  • Approved Rezone No. 21-0007 for 7.22 acres located at 1521 Cole Springs Road to rezone from AG (Agricultural District) to AR (Agricultural Residential District)
  • Approved Variance No. P21-­0027 for 0.70 acres located at 4169 Whitlow Ridge Drive zoned AR (Agricultural Residential) to reduce the side setback of an accessory building for a proposed detached garage
  • Appointed Courtney “Matt” Elder to the Planning Commission
  • Approved settlement agreement by and among Oconee County Board of Commissioners and The Ohio Casualty Insurance Company, Developers Surety and Indemnity Company, and Liberty Mutual Insurance Company
  • Approved budget amendment for the Coroner's Office and the Parks & Recreation Department
  • Approved acceptance of right­ of­ way deed from TMFT Lot Investments, LLC, to Oconee County for Autumn Glen, Phase 2, as shown on a plat dated June 9, 2020, prepared by Northeast Land Surveying, LLC
  • Approved acceptance of sanitary sewer easement and assignment of easement as shown on the sanitary sewer easement as "Easement #2" for Westminster Presbyterian Homes dated March 2, 2021, and prepared by W&A Engineering and attached to the easement as Exhibit A
  • Authorized transfer of $25,500.00 from the Water Resources Enterprise Fund to the General Fund in exchange for the Public Works' Grass Tractor. Public Works will receive an allocation of $25,500.00 into the appropriate line item to complete its Striping Project. FY21 Budget Amendments are authorized for the applicable revenue and expenditure accounts required to transact the exchange.
  • Awarded the Epps Bridge Parkway Improvement Project to Pitman Construction in an amount not to exceed $382,335.70; the FY21 Budget is amended to allow for the usage of Fund Balance
  • Approved the Georgia Department of Transportation 2021 Local Maintenance Improvement Grant Safety Action Plan with funding from the Georgia Department of Transportation in the amount of $115,000.00 and a 30% match from Oconee County in the amount of $50,422.00 from the General Fund 
  • Approved amendment to the FY22 Budget Submittal Plan to change the first Public Hearing originally approved for May 18, 2021, to May 25, 2021, prior to the Board's Agenda Setting Meeting
  • Approved the 2021 Oconee County Economic Development Strategy as presented at the Board's Agenda Setting Meeting on March 30, 2021, by Courtney Bernardi, President, Oconee County Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the Economic Development Task Force
