    The Oconee County Board of Commissioners has tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 2.56 percent for the unincorporated areas and 2.48 percent for the incorporated areas. All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this tax increase to be held in the Commission Chambers at the Oconee County Courthouse, 23 N. Main Street, Watkinsville, Georgia on August 2, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. Times and places of additional public hearings on this tax increase are at the Commission Chambers at the Oconee County Courthouse, 23 N. Main Street, Watkinsville, Georgia on August 30, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. and August 30, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. UNINCORPORATEDThis tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 6.686 mills, an increase of 0.167 mills.   • 2016 Tax Digest & 5-Year History of Levy

    Oconee County 2016 Tax Digest and 5-Year History of Levy   In Compliance with Georgia law, the Oconee County Board of Commissioners hereby announces its intention to adopt a millage rate of 6.686 (unincorporated) and 7.646 (incorporated). Under current Georgia law, these proposed millage rates are considered to result in a tax increase. Accordingly, the Board has scheduled three public hearings for the purpose of soliciting public input on this increase.   The property digest in Oconee County reflects an increase due to increased assessed property values of ,129,102.  The resulting tax digest countywide is ,600,445,224.  Due to the increase in assessed property values, the proposed county millage rates are considered by state law to be tax increases of approximately 3.45% (unincorporated) and 2.95% (incorporated).   The public hearings for the millage rate are as follows:   Date                                Time                     Location   August 2, 2016    …
