NOTICE OF APPOINTMENTS TO OCONEE COUNTY ADVISORY BOARDS & COMMITTEES
The Oconee County Board of Commissioners is seeking citizen applicants for appointment to the following advisory committees and commissions:
Cultural Affairs & Tourism: Four appointments to begin October 1, 2013 for a 2-year term to expire on September 30, 2015. Members are encouraged to informally communicate with citizens of Oconee County on matters of cultural and tourism activities for the purpose of obtaining feedback on projects, programs, and issues. Meetings held monthly on the second Thursday at 6:30 pm at the Oconee Veterans Park Community Center.
Land Use & Transportation: Seven appointments to begin October 1, 2013 for a 2-year term to expire on September 30, 2015. Members are asked for input on planning for local, state, and federal transportation projects; and the revision and maintenance of the county’s land use map and comprehensive plan. Meetings held monthly on the second Tuesday at 7:00 pm at the Oconee Veterans Park Community Center.
Planning Commission: Two appointments to begin October 1, 2013 for a 4-Year term to expire on September 30, 2017. Members advise and assist in guiding and accomplishing a coordinated and harmonious development of Oconee County which will best promote public health, safety, morals, order, convenience, prosperity, and the general welfare. Meetings held monthly on the third Monday at 7:00 pm at the Oconee County Courthouse.
Recreational Affairs: Five appointments to begin October 1, 2013 for a 2-Year term to expire on September 30, 2015. Members interact with the Board of Commissioners, county staff, and the public, to review and discuss important issues affecting the county’s parks and recreational facilities, activities, and formulating recommendations on significant issues. Meetings held monthly on the third Tuesday at 5:00 pm at the Oconee Veterans Park Community Center.
