Animal Control Director Catlyn Vickers came to Oconee County in April 2002. She started her long career as the first Animal Control Officer in Winter Springs, Florida in 1974. Catlyn is Level 3 National Animal Control Association Certified through the University of Missouri.

As dedicated animal lover, Catlyn adopted Moses, a black & tan Coon Hound; Yukon, a white Siberian Husky with blue eyes; Maya, a red and white Siberian Husky with golden eyes; Alue, a black and white Siberian Husky with blue eyes; Peanut Butter, a cinnamon and white, blue eyed Siberian Husky; and the last addition, Khanook, a black and white, blue eyed Siberian Husky from the Oconee County Shelter. Recently, Opossum, a grey dilute calico took up at her home and is now part of the “Vickers’ House of Crazies”.

“With five huskies, a breed with so much energy, I strongly believe in letting each dog run on the treadmill for at least an hour. Moses on the other hand is a couch potato and Opossum, well she’s a cat and does what she wants when she wants.”
