Civic Center

Mission 

The mission of the Oconee County Civic Center is to provide high quality meeting and performance space for a variety of public, private and school system related functions.  The Civic Center seeks to provide full service meeting, conference, recreational and cultural arts facilities.  Use of the Civic Center is available to groups and individuals within and outside Oconee County.  By agreement with the Oconee County Board of Education, school events have scheduling priority.

Responsibilities

 Providing clean, inviting meeting rooms, rehearsal and performance spaces; Marketing the facility for maximum usage; Coordinating and scheduling event dates/times with consideration to Oconee County School System events; Providing audio-visual and technical services; Consulting and assisting stage and lighting design for theater users; Providing theatrical and meeting event coordination expertise; Adapting and executing lighting and scenery designs; Maintaining the physical plant; Purchasing, servicing and repairing all kitchen, meeting room and theatrical equipment; Providing security for the building and insuring public safety.

1.) How far in advance can I book an event at the Oconee County Civic Center?

The Oconee County Civic Center will book regular events up to six (6) months in advance of the date(s) being requested. Regular events are considered the following: meetings, lectures, training classes, luncheons and banquets, wedding/baby showers, anniversary parties, birthday parties, social club parties, auctions, fundraisers and concerts.

The Oconee County Civic Center will book weddings and receptions and some theatrical events up to twelve (12) months in advance of the date(s) being requested.

The Oconee County Board of Commissioners and Oconee County Board of Education have priority in booking and may book events at any time. Please inquire for further information concerning this policy.

2.) What dates are available for the Banquet Room or Theatre?

3.) How many people will the Banquet Room or Theatre seat?

The Theatre seats a total of 500. This does include six (6) handicap seats.

The maximum capacity for the Banquet Room varies per each event.

Generally the following applies:

Seated Banquets: Max capacity 350 attendees

Lecture (chairs only): Max capacity 500 attendees

4.) How much does it cost to rent the Banquet Room or Theatre?

Each event is different and pricing varies depending on many factors, such as:

The size of the event

Event sponsor(s)

Time frame of event

Day(s) of the week

5.) May I bring my own Caterer and/or Decorator or do I have to choose from a preferred vender list?

The Oconee County Civic Center does NOT have a preferred vender list for you to choose from. All Clients are welcome to bring their own choice of Caterer(s) and/or Decorator(s). Please keep in mind that we do have some restrictions on candles and helium balloons. Confetti, glitter and hay are NOT allowed. 6.) Do you allow alcohol to be served at events?

The Oconee County Civic Center does allow alcoholic beverages to be served BY SPECIAL PERMIT ONLY. All permits are one time use only and come directly from the Oconee County Civic Center, they are only applicable to your event date at our location and are non-transferable. Please understand per the State of Georgia Law alcoholic beverages CANNOT be sold on our premises, nor any items pertaining to the service of the alcoholic beverages. For further information and how to obtain a Temporary Alcoholic Beverage Permit for your event please contact the Oconee County Civic Center.

8.) How do I purchase tickets to an event at the Oconee County Civic Center?

Most groups hosting events open to the public at the Oconee County Civic Center handle their own ticket sales and their contact number is listed on our Event Information Line, 706-769-3903. However, if you are having difficulty contacting a group to purchase tickets please feel free to contact our office directly at 706-769-3902 and we will be happy to help you.

9.) Who can post a message on the electronic sign in front of the Oconee County Civic Center?

Events being hosted here at the Oconee County Civic Center are welcome to post a message on our Marquee.

Any messages pertaining specifically to non-profit events open to the citizens of Oconee County may be submitted and if approved are displayed as space is available.

No personal, political, business messages or paid advertisements allowed.
