The Oconee County
Board of Commissioners in the mid-1990s created the Oconee County
Development Review Committee (DRC) in order to provide a “one-stop-shop”
for developers attempting to permit new construction. The DRC is made up
of representatives from Planning, Public Works, Code Enforcement,
Environmental Health, Utilities, Emergency Management Agency and Fire.
The DRC reviews and
approves construction plans for new residential and commercial
subdivisions as well as site development plans for commercial and
multi-family lots. The DRC also reviews Preliminary Plats/Site Plans
for approval.
Current Members
The Development Review Committee (DRC) consists of Department Heads and
representatives of the County's Planning Department, Public Works, Code
Enforcement Department, Utility Department, EMA & Fire Departments, and
the Health Department. The committee provides technical review for
rezones, preliminary plats, site development plans, subdivision
construction plans and related documents.

DRC Agendas
(PDF)
Agendas will be made available the week before the meeting.
Minutes will not be available on-line until they are
approved at the next
month’s DRC meeting.
Properties that are
Zoned A-1 (Agriculture), located on a paved public road, that meet certain
size requirements and that have a specific development history may be
eligible for division administratively without having to file a
preliminary and final plat.
For more information
as to whether your property is eligible for this, please contact a Planner
in our office.
MACORTS
The Planning Department also participates as one of Oconee County’s
representatives in the Madison-Athens-Clarke-Oconee Regional
Transportation Study (MACORTS). MACORTS helps plan for current and future
transportation needs in the Northeast Georgia Region.
