Oconee County Advisory Boards & Committees
The Oconee County Board of Commissioners is seeking citizen applicants for appointments to the following advisory committees:
Citizens Advisory Committee on Land Use & Transportation Planning: Six appointments to start October 1, 2018 and expire September 30, 2020. Members are asked for input on planning for local, state, and federal transportation projects; and the revision and maintenance of the county’s land use map and comprehensive plan. Meetings are held bi-monthly on the second Tuesday at 6:00 pm at the Oconee Veterans park Community Center, 3500A Hog Mountain Road, Watkinsville.
Oconee County Planning Commission: Two appointments to start October 1, 2018 and expire September 30, 2022. Members recommend rezones, variances and other pertinent land use applications to the Board of Commissioners. Meetings are the third Monday each month at 7:00 pm at the Oconee County Courthouse.
Citizens Advisory Committee on Recreational Affairs: Four appointments to begin October 1, 2018 and expire September 30, 2020. Members review and discuss issues affecting the county’s parks and recreational facilities, activities, and formulate recommendations on significant issues. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 5:00 pm at the Oconee County Veterans Park Community Center.
Citizens Advisory Committee on Cultural Affairs & Tourism: Three appointments to October 1, 2018 and expire September 30, 2020. Members are encouraged to communicate with citizens of Oconee County on matters of cultural and tourism activities for the purpose of obtaining feedback on projects, programs and issues. Meetings are held bi-monthly on the second Thursday at 6:30 pm at the Welcome Center, 21 North Main Street, Watkinsville.
